Branches of purple leaves frame a brilliant sunset in shades of green. Some of the leaves are dancing in the air. This surreal piece, part of the Zen Mandala modern art series (visionary landscapes in a contemporary Asian style), is part of the Dreamscapes series, which combines my original paintings with digital enhancements. The scratches and imperfections give the piece a gothic feel.

I have been painting most of my life. Much of my inspiration comes from the beautiful natural landscape of the wst coast...the woods, the ocean, the rolling hills, the native wildflowers and wildlife. Even the surreal tree branches in the Zen series are often taken from the gnarled old oak trees I see on my walks. Other inspirations include teapots (I love tea) and animals, especially cats.
