A Siamese cat emerges from a bank of purple irises to visit with a turtle, who is sunning himself on a rock. Koi dart among the water lilies and reflections in the pond. Twisted maple trees and bright rhododendron provide a colorful backdrop (a mushroom-shaped stone lantern is nearly hidden in the distance). A branch of cherry blossoms completes this tranquil scene. Asian landscape, inspired by both Hakone Japanese Gardens in Saratoga, California, and Monet.
About Laura Iverson
I have been painting most of my life. Much of my inspiration comes from the beautiful natural landscape of the wst coast...the woods, the ocean, the rolling hills, the native wildflowers and wildlife. Even the surreal tree branches in the Zen series are often taken from the gnarled old oak trees I see on my walks. Other inspirations include teapots (I love tea) and animals, especially cats.
