The full moon illuminates orange dragonflies and blossoming tree branches, covered in cherry blossoms. The tree branches have arc'd to form a peace sign. Some of the petals are dancing in the night sky, which is in shades of teal, deepening to turquoise blue. This hope-filled piece, part of the Zen Mandala modern art series (visionary landscapes in a surreal Asian style), is sold but prints are available.
I have been painting most of my life. Much of my inspiration comes from the beautiful natural landscape of the wst coast...the woods, the ocean, the rolling hills, the native wildflowers and wildlife. Even the surreal tree branches in the Zen series are often taken from the gnarled old oak trees I see on my walks. Other inspirations include teapots (I love tea) and animals, especially cats.
