A seagull stands on a stone wall overlooking the sea. A path winds around magenta wildflowers (a groundcover called magic carpet), by a tree with red flowers. In the distance, wind-swept cypress trees can be glimpsed on the rocky coastline at Pacific Grove (near Carmel and Monterey). Seagulls fly through the white, fluffy clouds.

I have been painting most of my life. Much of my inspiration comes from the beautiful natural landscape of the wst coast...the woods, the ocean, the rolling hills, the native wildflowers and wildlife. Even the surreal tree branches in the Zen series are often taken from the gnarled old oak trees I see on my walks. Other inspirations include teapots (I love tea) and animals, especially cats.
