Description

A little Siamese cat sits beneath a red torii. She's been playing all day out in the sunshine and now going home to the temple as the sun sets. A pilgrim rests for a moment beneath a twisted pine tree. He plays a flute, contemplating his journey to the Zen Buddhist retreat. Birds fly over the cascading waterfall.

Personal note: This was the first temple painting I finished after my lovely Balinese kitty, Sky, passed peacefully from old age. I just had to add her to the scene. She loved being outside in the sunshine and I could see her playing there, then going to the temple for her rest.
