The lumunious full moon shines on a beautiful muted tortoiseshell cat. She sits in the branches of a gingko tree, watching the golden leaves dance in the night sky, which is in shades of purple. The title comes from a poem by Vidyapati (1340? - 1430). This autumn zen landscape is an original acrylic painting on a gallery-wrapped stretched canvas (the 3/4" staple-free sides are finished off in black acrylic)--no need to frame. It has been lightly varnished to protect the paint and preserve the lustrous colors.
I have been painting most of my life. Much of my inspiration comes from the beautiful natural landscape of the wst coast...the woods, the ocean, the rolling hills, the native wildflowers and wildlife. Even the surreal tree branches in the Zen series are often taken from the gnarled old oak trees I see on my walks. Other inspirations include teapots (I love tea) and animals, especially cats.
