In the early morning light, a lone pilgrim with a staff casts long shadows as she makes her way up the mountain path to a temple in the mist. She has already passed through the torii and entered the sacred realm. A waterfall cascades down craggy peaks. Birds fly upward in the distance. A lovely landscape in mint green and burgundy tones.
I have been painting most of my life. Much of my inspiration comes from the beautiful natural landscape of the wst coast...the woods, the ocean, the rolling hills, the native wildflowers and wildlife. Even the surreal tree branches in the Zen series are often taken from the gnarled old oak trees I see on my walks. Other inspirations include teapots (I love tea) and animals, especially cats.
