A luminous full moon illuminates trees and a little raccoon wandering through the forest. A raven is on a tree branch to complete this fanciful scene. This was originally a pour painting. As I was adding details, a raccoon came by and looked in my studio window. So, of course, he had to be included.
I have been painting most of my life. Much of my inspiration comes from the beautiful natural landscape of the wst coast...the woods, the ocean, the rolling hills, the native wildflowers and wildlife. Even the surreal tree branches in the Zen series are often taken from the gnarled old oak trees I see on my walks. Other inspirations include teapots (I love tea) and animals, especially cats.
