The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. As the full moon rises over a Japanese garden, a gate opens to another world. Snow falls on the outward scene but, inside the gate, the snow gives way to cherry blossom petals on the path. Snow has not quite yet hidden the footprints on the stones from some traveler crossing between worlds. The winter world is in shades of blue, turquoise and indigo.
About Laura Iverson
I have been painting most of my life. Much of my inspiration comes from the beautiful natural landscape of the wst coast...the woods, the ocean, the rolling hills, the native wildflowers and wildlife. Even the surreal tree branches in the Zen series are often taken from the gnarled old oak trees I see on my walks. Other inspirations include teapots (I love tea) and animals, especially cats.
