Our spiral notebooks are 6" x 8" in size and include 120 pages which are lined on both sides. The artwork is printed on the front cover which is made of thick paper stock, and the back cover is medium gray in color. The inside of the back cover includes a pocket for storing extra paper and pens.

As the full moon rises in the purple nighttime sky over the rolling California hills, studded with oak trees, a wooden gate, set in a crumbling adobe wall, opens to another world. Wispy white clouds float in a blue sky, over the distant ocean and the green hills in the magical world. This landscape, inspired by the Rio-Caledonia Adobe in San Miguel (central California), can be described as gothic, visionary, fantasy or surreal. This piece, part of the Shaman's Gate series (mystical landscapes of alternate realities), is an original acrylic painting on a gallery-wrapped stretched canvas (the 3/4" sides are finished off in purple acrylic)--no need to frame. It has been lightly varnished to protect the paint and preserve the lustrous colors. If you would like the canvas fitted with picture wire, let me know at the time of purchase (no additional charge). The piece can be hung as is on one or two parallel nails but some people prefer hanging wire if the piece is going to be hung unframed....
I have been painting most of my life. Much of my inspiration comes from the beautiful natural landscape of the wst coast...the woods, the ocean, the rolling hills, the native wildflowers and wildlife. Even the surreal tree branches in the Zen series are often taken from the gnarled old oak trees I see on my walks. Other inspirations include teapots (I love tea) and animals, especially cats.
